Here’s a list of the most competitive military car discounts you should know about before negotiating your next vehicle purchase.

Many major car manufacturers offer new car discounts to military members and veterans. Depending on the manufacturer and dealership, you may be able to stack your discount with other offers and promotions.

Virtually every car manufacturer has a nationwide incentive program for current and former military members. Manufacturers typically restrict these special deals to certain models, but they can save you hundreds– even thousands– on your new car purchase.
Here are some of our favorites:
General Motors (GM)
General Motors offers eligible military members a military discount program for GM vehicles, including Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC. The GM military discount program allows eligible military members to purchase vehicles at prices lower than MSRP. It’s important to note that GM dealers are not required to participate in the GM military discount program, but many do.
Many 2023 GM cars, SUVs, crossovers and light-duty trucks are eligible for the GM Military Discount Program.
The standard GM military discount is $500 on most GM vehicles and up to $1,000 off on some Cadillac models.
GM Military Discount Eligibility
People eligible for the GM Military Discount include active duty members, National Guard members, Reserves and retirees of the U.S. Air Force, Army, Navy, Marines, National Guard, and Coast Guard. Veterans are also eligible.

You can verify your military service through ID.me on the GM military discount page. Once you verify your service, ID.me will give you an authorization number. Bring that number to the dealership to get your discount.
Volvo Military Discount
With Volvo’s Military Offer, you can get up to $500 off a new or “certified by Volvo” pre-owned purchase. You can use this offer for both leases and purchases.
Volvo Military Discount Eligibility
Active-duty military, Reservists, National Guard members, and veterans are eligible for the program. Spouses and immediate family members are also eligible, according to the Volvo website. Complete details can be found on the Volvo website.

Follow this process to redeem your discount:
- Click “register now” on the Volvo military offer page.
- Verify your status through ID.me from that link. After successful verification, you will get a pin. Be careful not to use that pin, as you can only get two of them per year.
- Choose a Volvo model.
- Take your pin to a participating Volvo retailer to close the deal. You can find participating deales on Volvo’s military page.
Volvo’s Overseas US Military Program
Volvo also has an overseas Military Program where you can buy new Volvos at prices that are significantly below the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP), according to the Volvo website. Volvo will deliver your new vehicle to an approved military sales agent or fly you (and pay hotel) to its factory delivery center in Sweden to pick up the vehicle.
Volvo will even pay to ship your vehicle back to the U.S. when you’re done with your tour.
This deal is also available to U.S. diplomats serving overseas.

Ford – Lincoln Military Discount
Ford offers a $500 exclusive cash reward on many of its 2022 and 2023 models, including:
- Ford F-150 pickups
- Ford Explorer
- Ford Bronco Sport
- Ford Expedition
- Lincoln Nautilus
You can use this discount on up to five vehicles per year. The current offer expires on Jan. 3, 2023, but you can check Ford’s military appreciation page for more updates.
Ford – Lincoln Military Discount Eligibility
Ford offers these new car military discounts to active-duty military members, military retirees and veterans within 24 months of separation, according to Ford’s website. If you are the spouse, surviving spouse or household member of a military member in one of these categories, you are also eligible for this offer.

To get the discount, confirm your eligibility through ID.me on the Ford military appreciation page. You’ll receive a certificate via email, which you can use when you shop online or at the dealership.
Acura Military Discount
Current and former military members can get $750 off a new Acura through Acura’s military appreciation program.
To get this discount, you must finance or lease the vehicle through Acura Financial Services (AFS). AFS may or may not have the best interest rates, so make sure you factor that into your decision and compare the total cost of the financing with offers from other lenders.
Acura Military Discount Eligibility
Active duty military, Reserves, National Guard, Coast Guard and retirees and veterans are all eligible for this offer. Spouses of members of each of these categories are also eligible. You are also eligible if you or your spouse is a veteran within one year of separation from active duty or you are a Gold Star family member.

Proof of eligibility must be presented at the dealership based on their status. Servicemembers must bring their latest LES or proof of service. Retirees, veterans and Gold Star families must provide proof of status.
BMW Military Discount
BMW offers an generous $500 to $2,000 in military incentives on many of its most popular models. These models are currently changing, so you’ll have to check with your local BMW dealership to see which models are currently eligible for military discounts.
You can use the BMW military discount in combination with other offers and sales programs, except for the BMW corporate sales program.
Can you get special pricing on BMWs even when stationed overseas? Yes, you can– by purchasing your car through a BMW military sales agent.
If you require adaptive equipment for your BMW, you can get additional assistance through the BMW mobility program.

BMW graciously extends its military discount to the following:

Head to the BMW military incentive page to start the discount process. After ID.me verification, you’ll take the unique code you receive via email to the dealership to get the discount.
Chrysler – Dodge – Jeep – Military Discounts
The Military Incentive Program covers select vehicles made by Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram and provides a military discount of $500 for eligible purchases.
Eligibility – Military Incentive Program
Active duty servicemembers, Reservists, retirees, honorably discharged veterans within 12 months of their discharge data and veterans with a disability rating of 100% or who have an “individually unemployable” rating are eligible for this program.

Honda Military Discount
Honda’s Military Appreciation Program provides a $500 rebate for qualified military members who finance or lease a vehicle using Honda Financial Services. All 2022 and 2023 Honda models are eligible for the discount, according to Honda’s website. The offer is good thorough April 3, 2023.

Active duty military, Reserves, retirees and veterans who are within one year of separation from active duty and spouses. Gold Star family members are also eligible.

Proof of eligibility must be presented at the dealership based on their status. Servicemembers must bring their latest LES or proof of service. Spouses must present a copy of their servicemember’s most recent LES and a dependent military ID. Gold Star family members, retirees and veterans must also provide relevant documentation.
Hyundai Military Discount
Hyundai offers a $500 additional military discount towards the purchase or lease of a new Hyundai. The current version of this offer is good through Jan. 2, 2023.

Kia Military Discount
The Kia military discount offers a savings of $400 towards the purchase of select models of new Kia vehicles. The models vary per dealership, so you will have to contact your local Kia dealer for specifics about model eligibility in your area.

Kia offers military discounts to active duty, National Guard, Reserves, military retirees, and veterans with a disability rating (any level). Spouses of people in any of these categories are also eligible for the discount.

Mazda Military Discount
Mazda currently offers a $500 Military Appreciation Bonus Cash program for military members, including spouses and children of those who qualify. The Military Appreciation Bonus Cash program can be combined with public offers, including lease offers, customer cash back, and APR incentives/offers, as well as the Mazda Financial Services Lease Loyalty Reward or Mazda Loyalty Reward programs.

Eligible members include active duty members, Reservists, Guard members, and veterans/retirees within 2 years of separation or retirement of the U.S. Air Force, Army, Navy, Marines, National Guard, or Coast Guard. Eligibility extends to spouses and children who live at the same address. Proof of service required.
Nissan Military Discount
Nissan’s Military Program offers a $500 savings on eligible purchases. This offer can be combined with other discounts. Nissan also offers benefits for servicemembers who want to purchase a car while stationed overseas.

Active duty, Reservists, retirees, and veterans within 24 months of separation are eligible for this discount.

Proof of eligibility must be presented to your local dealership in order to receive the discount. Acceptable documentation includes a copy of your LES, military ID, DD Form 214, Certificate of Release, or Discharge from active duty.
Subaru Military Discount
Subaru Military Discount Program provides a $500 discount towards vehicle purchases. This discount is able to be combined with other retailer zone or cash incentives.

Active duty military, Reserves and retirees and veterans who are within 12 months of separation from active duty are eligible for Subaru’s military discount.

Toyota Military Discount
The Japanese automaker, Toyota, makes some of the most popular and safe vehicles around. The Toyota Military Rebate Program offers a $500 rebate for eligible military members.

Active duty military, family members within the same residence, Gold Star family members, retirees, and veterans (within 2 years of discharge date) are all eligible for a Toyota Military Rebate.

When you make the purchase you must be sure to bring either your Leave and Earnings Statement (LES), Military ID, or DD Form 214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from active duty.
The discount is available on all vehicles. However, the discount can only be applied towards leased vehicles or vehicles financed through Toyota Financial Services. Because interest rates offered through dealerships are not always the most competitive, this discount is most useful for people who already were planning on purchasing/leasing directly through Toyota.

Volkswagen Military Discount
The Volkswagen military discount is good for a $500 savings toward the purchase or lease of select new Volkswagen models. Those who are eligible for the discount include active duty members, those serving in the Guard or Reserves, retirees, veterans within 24 months of separation, First Responders, and household members of those who are eligible. Car Buying Services Also Make Car Buying Easy for Military Families
USAA offers the USAA Car Buying Service, which is powered by TrueCar. TrueCar also offers a military program. These services make it easy to buy a car at a prearranged price so you can avoid the hassle of haggling with dealerships. Some of these purchases may allow you to stack military discounts, while others may not – check with your dealership for more information.
You can also get quotes from local dealerships through websites like Edmunds, which allow you to quickly compare offers from multiple dealerships, significantly reducing the time it takes to find a new car at an attractive price.
