Military members can save on Hertz rentals and used car purchases. Here’s how.
Hertz Military Discount Code for Rentals
As a current military member or government employee, you can get 25% off the “pay later” base rate when you rent a car for leisure travel. Just start your rental here and select the “Book a Leisure Car Rental with Your Government or Military CDP” option.
You can also use the Hertz government and military leisure discount code. Just enter 1572999 in the “counter discount program” (CDP) field at checkout.
Hertz Veterans Day Discount Code
For Veterans Day 2022, Hertz is offering a special deal for all veterans: 20% off the base rate for rental vehicles between Nov. 11 and Jan. 31, 2023.
To redeem this offer, you need to book between Nov. 7 and Nov. 11. You can book the Veterans Day offer from this special page or use the promotional code (PC) 210907 at checkout.
Hertz Rental Discounts for USAA Members
If you are a member of USAA, you can get special deals and rates on Hertz rentals year-round. These are the current USAA deals as of Nov. 2022:
- $25 off weekly rentals of five days or more by using PC 205643 at checkout
- 10% of weekly or weekend rentals of three days or more by using PC 205645
- $50 hotel gift card for rentals of intermediate-class cars or higher for three or more days by using CDP 205641
- Free Wi-Fi when you rent an intermediate-class car or higher for three or more days by using CDP 205640.
- Time Sensitive: USAA members can get 35% off of rentals (mid-size and above) through Jan. 31, 2023 when you enter 77694 in the CDP field and 210833 in the PC field.

Hertz Military Discount on Used Car Purchases
Current and former military members can take $350 off Hertz’s best “no-haggle” pricing by using the promo code “MILITARY” for online or in-store purchases. You can also use this code if you are a family member of a current or former military member.
Be prepared to show proof of military service when you pick up the car.

Hertz sells its old rental fleet vehicles at competitive prices below Kelley Blue Book value, according to the Hertz website.
Hertz rental vehicles receive regular, routine maintenance and the company certifies these used cars are mechanically sound for sale through extensive checks, the website said.
What Kind of Cars Can You Get From Hertz?
Hertz makes shopping for a car online easy by dividing its used cars into these categories:
- Used cars under $15,000
- Used cars under $20,000
- SUVs
- Fuel-efficient used cars
- Luxury cars for sales
Browsing the luxury cars for sale, we found everything from Infiniti SUVs to BMW X5 sports activity vehicles. Most vehicles in the luxury category had around 50,000 miles on them, and most were available for under $30,000. Non-luxury vehicles were even cheaper.

Hertz isn’t the only place military members can save when shopping for a vehicle.
GM Military Discounts
If you’re in the market for a new General Motors (GM) vehicle, you may be eligible for a special military appreciation discount. These discounts are available for vehicles purchased and picked up (or delivered) before Jan. 3, 2023:
- $500 off select Chevrolet, Buick and GMC vehicles
- $1,000 off select Cadillac vehicles
Current and former military members can qualify for GM’s military discount through the ID.me verification portal on GM’s military discount page.
Ford Military Discounts
Ford offers new car military discounts to active-duty military members, military retirees and veterans within 24 months of separation, according to Ford’s website.
If you get a new car before Jan. 3, 2023, you can get $500 off many of Ford’s most popular 2022 models, including:
- Ford F-150 pickups
- Ford Explorer
- Ford Bronco Sport
- Ford Expedition
- Lincoln Nautilus
To get the discount, verify your military status through the ID.me link on Ford’s military appreciation page.
Nissan Military Discounts
Nissan offers military discounts to active-duty, National Guard and reserve service members. Retirees with at least 20 years of service and veterans within 24 months of separating are also eligible. Discounts vary between $500 and $1,000.
Nissan allows eligible military members and veterans to use their discounts in conjunction with other regional and national Nissan incentives, according to the Nissan website.
Several new Nissan models qualify for the military discount program, including:
- 2023 Nissan Rogue
- 2022 Nissan Sentra
- 2023 Nissan Frontier
- 2023 Nissan Titan
